Happy New Year

Hello everyone
I want to wish everyone a very Happy New Year. May 2008 bring all happiness, joy, family togetherness and prosperity.
Sophia and I had a very nice 23rd anniversary. Nice relaxing day, dinner with Tiffany and Matt and a Japanese Steak house, a first in many many years with the kids on our day.

Christmas Memories

Merry Christmas from Montana! We just got 4 inches of snow today for a very white Christmas - something my heart always treasures. I remember a few years when it would snow Christmas day and everyone would be making their way out to Auburn to come to our house. I would always be nervous that my aunts, uncles and grandparents wouldn't make the trip because of the snow... but they always came!

Chip's note rang a chord in my heart - we can't make it home, but the memories are grand. I try to bake all of our special Christmas cookies that my Dad would make so that it seems more Christmas-y, but it is not the same not being with my family for the huge get-together and hours of appetizers, sweet snacks, big dinner and awesome desserts (and the every-famous Myrtle Salad).

Think of us tomorrow as you're all enjoying potato salad, Aunt Sophia's peanut butter bon-bons and peanut brittle, Myrtle salad, and SHRIMP!!

Love you all,

Cheryl

Family Christmas's together

This will be the first Christmas that I will miss. It' not just about being at home with snow, seeing the smiling faces as gifts are open, spending time with my mom, dad, and sister. But being with everyone together as a family; aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and grandparents.

I look back at all the holidays we have spent together as a family: Fourth of July's, Thanksgivings, Christmas', Anniversaries, and more important the spur of the moment cook-outs at Beech St. We were truly blessed to spend so much time together as a family during those special times.

Even though I will not be there physically for the Dinner Grace, dinner, dessert (which are oh soooo good), gifts, and conversation. My heart will be there. I will try to make it home as soon as I can after the holidays...

So in closing. Have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Years. May we all be safe in our travels and come with empty stomachs that will be pleasantly full when you leave.

:)

Until then...

Chip

Gentle Loving Sky

Just heard from Diane that they had to put Sky down last night and thought you would like to know that. I am including a couple of pictures. I am so sad. He was just the most kind, loving gentle soul. Sure am going to miss him.
Just thought I would share a couple pictures - even though it is the Berger Blog - Hope you don't mind!!!! Got quite a bit of snow and it was actually a blizzard. Had Interstate 80 closed down in a few places. The wind just howled all night and I bet its heading your way now!!!! Enjoy!!!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL THE BERGERS

Excellent - great way to keep in touch!!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all the Bergers!!! A big snow storm is just starting here in Iowa - quite a bit of the ice has disappeared, but the roads around here are still pretty bad. Most of my trees have lost the ice, but don't know if they will make it or not. Love the fact we will have a white christmas!!!! I still think of those long ago wonderful christmas times going from house to house!!!! It was so much fun and especially if we ended up at the Berger home!!! We are expecting 3-8 inches here, so time to hunker down!!! The best to all of you. Hope to get to Cleveland sometime next spring!!! Take care all and God Bless.

A Great Idea

Joann,

What a wonderful idea. The blog is great and will be a great way to stay "in touch" with everyone. Katie, Jenny and I want to wish everyone in the Berger clan a very Merry Christmas and a Safe, Healthy and Prosperous New Year. We hope to see you and everyone during the holidays if possible or at least throughout the year. We're really looking forward to a lot of great times with the "cousins".

Talk to you soon.

Bob

Season's news

Received a Christmas note from Larry & Marilyn Shank and thought I'd share their family news. Unfortunately, Julie is still going through a "nasty" divorce. Julie lives in Aunt Ruth and Uncle Ray's old house on W. 159th, I believe. Son Nick, 6, is in the 1st grade and is a math and spelling "machine." Amy is 3. They went to Florida with Larry & Marilyn and Marilyn said it was "marvelous" seeing Disney World through the eyes of a 6 and 3 year old.

Sam, wife Dana, Alexis, 5 and Sarah, 3, live in North Royalton. Sam is in research at Case Western Reserve University med school. Dana teaches nursing at the Univ. of Akron and part-time at Case. The girls have a "au pair" from Germany. Hmmm. Our German roots returning.

Please add any news on this site to share with all the Bergers.

Welcome!

Thanks for visiting the Berger Family blog. This page is dedicated to our Mom and Dad, Fred and Eunice (Hertzel) Berger, who were married 60 years! They were wonderful parents, Dad passing in February 2004 and Mom, January 2007.

The Bergers bleed orange and brown in winter, red and blue in summer. Yes, we're Browns and Indians fans! And, go Buckeyes, too!

My 5 brothers and I grew up on Cleveland's near west side, attending local Catholic schools. Birth order: Roy, Glenn, Joanne, Ken, Gerard & Mark. We were raised in the house built by our great grandfather and grandmother Hertzel. It's the house shown on the top of this blog.

We're all married, with children - 17. Our Berger childen have 9 kids among them, or 9 great grandchildren for our Mom and Dad. I welcome any family, cousins, etc. to add to the blog or give me an email at dawgs2119@aol.com to help communicate and keep all informed of the Berger bloggings. Go Browns!
